This program emphasizes critical thinking, leadership, management, research, advanced assessment, and health promotion across a variety of community-based health care settings. Designed for graduates of associate degree and diploma nursing programs, who are currently licensed as an RN in the U.S., the RN will be prepared for a broader scope of practice and for entry into master?s or doctoral nursing programs. The curriculum provides the RN with a better understanding of the cultural, political, economic, and social issues that affect patients and influence health care delivery. Special emphasis will be given to the allocation and management of physical, fiscal, and human resources. Opportunities for the RN to specialize will be provided in the form of various nursing, business, and criminal justice electives.
