Claremont McKenna College (CMC) is a private, coeducational, liberal arts college and a member of the Claremont Colleges located in Claremont, California. The 50-acre (0.20 km2) campus is located 35 miles (56 km) east of Downtown Los Angeles. CMC was founded in 1946 as Claremont Men's College and emphasized programs in government, business, and international affairs. A joint Claremont-Mudd-Scripps athletic program offers 21 varsity sports and competes in the NCAA's Division III Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
