College Profile for: Chipola College

Chipola College is a small community college located in Marianna, Florida and named for the Chipola River less than a mile from the campus. Founded in 1947 as Chipola Junior College, the name was changed in 2003 with the inception of several Bachelor's degree programs. The school is noted for its athletic program, which competes in the Panhandle Conference of the Florida Junior College Athletic Association, a body of the National Junior College Athletic Association. The baseball program counts among its alums former Texas Rangers manager Buck Showalter and World Baseball Classic standout Adam Loewen, Milwaukee Brewers minor league third baseman Mat Gamel, and Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Russell Martin, while the men's basketball program was once home to Auburn University standout Chris ...
