Alright so a bunch of my friends got accepted into colleges and this other friend is going to a community college in Florida because he can't get into a good school...he claims that after one or two years at a community college in florida he can supposedly transfer AUTOMATICALLY (meaning high school info and college gpa and what not doesn't matter) into university of florida, florida state, south florida, etc....is that true?
Top Answer:
THIS IS CORRECT BUT MAKE SURE YOUR GPA IS GOOD IN THE COMM COLLEGE. IF THEY ARE NOT 3.0 OR HIGHER JUST FORGET ABOUT EVER THINKING YOU WERE GOOD AT ANYTHING AND BECOME A JANITOR
I live in Orlando Florida i need to find good nursing college (Register Nurse degree)! Willing to travel hour and half from home!
I have some colleges i know of:
1. Florida Hospital College of health Science
2. Florida Southern College
3. Lake Sumter Community College
4. Polk State college
5. Seminole State College Of Florida
6. South Florida Community college
7. University of Central Florida
8. University of South Florida
9. Keisers University
DOES ANYONE NO ANY OTHER GOOD ONES? AND WHAT ONE WOULD U RECOMMENDED?

When comparing colleges and nursing programs keep in mind that state and community colleges are going to be much less per credit hour than private colleges. The strength of any program is how good their clinical sites are.
I am currently a community college in South Florida as a full time student getting 100% of help from Financial Aid during Fall and Spring Term.
Since I want to get my degree as fast as I can, I am considering to attend classes, if possible full time during "summer term". So my questions is, can I be a full time student, and if so, does Financial Aid help during this period, or do I have to pay out of my pocket?
Top Answer:
The SUMMER 2011 semester was the last semester, as far as I understand... that the Federal Government would allow a student to receive financial aid in any form for 3 semesters out of a FAFSA/ACADEMIC calendar year. From this point forward you have to choose 2 semesters out of FALL, SPRING, & SUMMER to receive your FINANCIAL AID. It used to be that by early SPRING you could put your name on a list in the Financial Aid office and when SUMMER rolled around... if there were any Federal monies left... you could get some even if the SUMMER semester was your 3rd semester in the Academic year. As I understand it... no more with the Federal Monies. However, there is a chance that your school has (for SUMMER semester) some left over money, scholarships, State Leftover Money, Private Loans, etc... so, if you really are interested go into your Financial Aid office after the SPRING semester has started (like late January) and ask them what your options are for SUMMER. As a side note, if I had to do it all over again I would have taken more credits in the FALL and SPRING and taken an internship somewhere else every SUMMER! Internships are priceless and it definitely helps you not to get burnt out with school having some extra time off in the SUMMER! However, I feel like I screwed myself by getting no internships because I felt like I needed to get school over with very quickly. I was stressed all the time with no time off and I had no experience in my degree's industry when I graduated and other students who had taken many internships got positions over me with much higher pay and better starting positions. Something to think about.

Well on the website for the university it says that i can transfer when i have 60 total credits and I have calculated that i will have all these credits by Fall of 2010 and also I attend a florida community college if that matters at all. So i want to know when should i apply to the university for admission.

Never! Because you'd have to live in the toilet called South Florida!
Due to poor planning I have to go to a community college in Florida. This school has some kind of agreement with the University of South Florida that these credits count there but you can't get a bachelors degree at the college you would have to transfer to the USF for the second 2 years. Since these credits count at that university would they count at other out of state universities?
Top Answer:
Most likely, yes they would count at other out of state universities, but the only real way to find out, is to contact the specific out of state universities you're interested in.
As a general rule, if a particular course at an accredited university is fairly equal in content, credit hours, and the school is similar in how it's 'semesters' are run, then usually the course credit will transfer.
Some may, however some may not. And most universities have a "cap" or limit as to how many credits you can transfer in.

Go to the community college for the first two years. That way you will be able to save up a lot of money. Then you can transfer to the university of South Florida to continue your bachelor's degree. That is the best way to go and you get the best of both worlds
I am going to a community college first with the hopes that I can transfer to a University later. I am so broke. I must focus on working a little more and spending a little less
Has anyone applied to either Univ of South Florida or Hillsborough Community College Nursing program? How long does it take to hear back from the schools?
If anyone was accepted and attended either one of these school's nursing programs, I would like to know how was their experience?
Top Answer:
My best friend went to Hillsborough Community College Nursing Program and loved every minute of it. Everyone told her there were much better places to go but she stuck with it and loved evey second. She is now a midwife within that area.
Don't know how long it took for her to hear back from the school but she recommends it highly to anyone who wants to go into nursing and lives in that area.
Hope this helps
I'll be graduating from a community college in south Florida soon, and I want to move away from home and find a good university in-state, not too expensive, with good and reasonable on-campus or near campus living.
Top Answer:
Look at the University of Florida, Gainesville.
I attend Broward College in South Florida and I want to transfer to University of California after two years with an associate in arts degree to go to a Bachelor's Degree then a Masters.
Top Answer:
That will be up to the University of California to decide. They may accept some credits but not all, you'll need to contact them and probably send a transcript.

Im looking for a college in south florida or close.
A good school.
Top Answer:
College is a lot harder than HS, Amigo.
A GPA of 2.5 suggests that you are setting yourself up for failure.
Your bias against community college also is a 'red flag'.
