Loyola College in Maryland, to be changed to Loyola University Maryland on August 15, 2009 pending approval by the Maryland Higher Education Commission, is a Roman Catholic,Jesuit private university located in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. Founded in 1852 by John Early and eight other members of the Society of Jesus, Loyola College in Maryland is one of 28 member institutions of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities. Loyola's main campus is located on Charles Street in Baltimore. The campus features traditional collegiate architecture, including its tutor-style Humanities Building (formerly the Jesuit Residence), and its bridge across Charles Street, allowing easy pedestrian access for undergraduates to walk from the residence halls to their classes.
