Virginia Intermont College is a small private Baptist liberal arts college in Bristol, Virginia. It was founded in 1884 by a Baptist minister who wanted to establish educational opportunties for women. The school has been coeducational since 1972. The college, known primarily for its photography and equestrian programs, is accredited by the Commission on Colleges Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; The institution was put on probation for twelve months following review of a Special Committee Report, audits, and financial statements, and the institution’s First Monitoring Report.
