Empire Beauty Schools, founded in 1948, is the largest cosmetology school in the United States.[citation needed] The school is headquartered in Pottsville, PA and is one of the city's leading local employers behind D. G. Yuengling & Son.[citation needed] Empire Beauty Schools recently purchased all of the beauty schools from Regis Corporation, formerly the largest cosmetology school in the United States. Empire Education Group participates in annual fundraising efforts for local charities. In 2007, the company garnered a quarter-million dollars for KidsPeace, headquartered in Pennsylvania.
