Are there any good colleges in Alaska?
I am a sophomore in high school, and I have to start looking for colleges [private school requirment, I have to show colleges and plans and whatever to the Guidance Deparment], and I would really like to go to college in Alaska. Is that a good choice? What good colleges are in Alaksa?
I live in Alaska. My son has a full engineering scholarship to University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
The University of Alaska has several campuses all over the state - the two biggest ones being in Anchorage (UAA) and Fairbanks (UAF). They offer all the usual studies most any large state college would - UAA has a focus on the Alaskan ecology, environment, mining and oil engineering, and UAF has all that plus a special studies in large arctic animals at their LARS (Large Arctic Research Station).
There are also several accredited small private colleges like Sheldon Jackson in Sitka.
Hope this helps.

What are good colleges in Alaska for vets?
Well, I want to become a equine veterinarian and I wanted to know if alaska is a good place for a career like that?? Also if you can tell me some good colleges there? Thank you so much! Or also another good state with horse schools..
There are no vet schools in Alaska. Here's a list of all the vet schools in the US.
http://www.aavmc.org/students_admissions/vet_schools.htm
However, you need a 4-year college degree and great grades to get into one, and you can take the pre-vet classes at many schools, including some in Alaska. Try your state universities.
What colleges in Alaska should I look into?
I have a 3.6 GPA and got a 2300 on my SATs. I have little extra curricular activity and am looking to major in either business or film. Which colleges in Alaska might be good for me? Thanks
You should try UAA (University of Alaska Anchorage) or UAF (University of Alaska Fairbanks)

Are there colleges in Alaska that I could earn a tourism degree?
I"m currently in a tourism major at an Indiana University campus and I wanted to know if there were any in Alaska I could finish it at? I've tried to search online but I can't come up with anything solid. I know tourism is important there and I'd appreciate any help :) thanks!
University of Alaska Fairbanks, has good business courses, from the associates to the MBA level. I did not see a tourism BA degree , but you can do a general studies or Northern studies degree and design your own concentration. Here are some links:

Many of the colleges in Alaska are pretty easy to get into, including some in the U Alaska system. But you can look up *all* of the colleges in Alaska at www.collegeboard.com. Click on their college search.
Once you get the list, you can click on each school, and find out what their average SATs are, and their admissions rates. That'll give you an idea for your chances.
