I live in Hawaii and plan on becoming a general surgeon.
I am a junior in high school, and honestly I dont really know what specific major I need to take in order to become one, but that is why I am asking right now. Im going to a 2-year college first and am wondering which community colleges here can offer me something that I could use to become a surgeon. O and if you know what specific major I need that would be a HUGE help.
Thank you
Im trying to go to college in hawaii to study criminology. I want to know what colleges are out there that are NOT community college? I know Chaminade is a good college but i'd like to have other options just in case that college doesnt work out.Thanks.

University of Hawaii duh!!!!!
I've been researching but it doesn't seem that there are many good liberal arts colleges in Hawaii. Can you suggest any?
Top Answer:
I couldn't justify spending much money at either Hawaii Pacific or at Chaminade, clearly the top 2 liberal arts schools. If you are stuck in Hawaii, go to UH-Manoa.
There are other schools there but they aren't worth the bother.
I really want to go to Hawaii to study alternative/renewable energy/green technology and I was wondering what colleges would be worth going to...preferably on the big island.
I've tried looking up Colleges that offer Computer Software Engineering and all I found was Florida and another state, I would like to go to New York or Hawaii for College.

You can try NYU or Columbia, which are in New York.
Hope I helped !
what are some colleges in hawaii that are pretty good (like real 4 year universities), but not really hard to get into. also is the university of hawaii manoa really competitive, what do you think is the lowest gpa you can get in that school with
i get pretty good grades now, but do you think if i go to a community college for a year i will definitely get in?
so if you dont have a 3.25 there is no chance of getting in?
Top Answer:
U of H, Manoa is the best university in Hawaii. A 3.25 unweighted GPA is necessary to be competitive for admission. About two-thirds of applicants directly from high school and about three-quarters of transfer applicants are admitted.
I am majoring in psychology.
Minor in music.
I just want to make sure that if I ever were to go to a college or university in Hawaii, it would definitely have to be worth the money.
Also I wouldn't mind a small list of all the colleges/universities over there.

Top Five Schools in Hawaii
University of Hawaii at Manoa
The University of Hawaii at Manoa is located about three miles inland from the state capital, Honolulu, in Manoa. The university was founded in 1907 as a land grant college of agriculture mechanical arts. Today, the university has about 14,030 undergraduates. Best known for its studies in agriculture and human resources, the university is one of the only universities focusing on tropical agriculture. It is the only university in Hawaii to compete in NCAA Division I.
I want to know that because I'm thinking about studying at Hawaii. Please detail your answer and thanks for your help.

Two year community colleges don't usually recruit students. Instead, you'll need to find out when their application deadlines are, but usually community colleges accept applications right up to a few weeks before the first day of classes (just give them time to process everything and make sure you meet all the requirements).
my friend and i are looking into going to a school in Hawaii. What are the best schools there?
Top Answer:
The University of Hawaii at Manoa is the best and is a public school. The two top private schools are Chaminade U and Hawaii Pacific U. There are benefits to each of the schools. HPU is VERY urban and is literally in the downtown business area, with a second campus in Kailua (more rural). Chaminade is small and has some excellent programs. UHM is about 20,000 students and has a large campus. UH Hilo is smaller and in a small-ish town (the other 4-year UH campus). There are also 7 community college campuses on Oahu, Maui, Big Island (Hilo), and Kauai.
