okay, the last two years, my grades have been pretty good but right now, I have a cumulative GPA of about 2.75 and a 20 on my ACT. I am retaking my ACT in october and am looking at around a 24. I am looking at majoring in music. I am in symphonic band for four years, marching band for four, McHenry County Honor Band for two, Marching band leadership team, and an active Tri-M music honor society member. I also play Varisty badminton for three years. What are my chances, mainly as far as GPA and ACT, on admission into Illinois state university, Southern illinois university carbondale, Eastern Illinois university, or Western Illinois University..
..and which ones have the best music program. I am familiar with ISU's music program, but less so with the others.

99% of Incoming freshmen who were accept to Eastern Illinois University had ACT Composite scores of 19 - 24. 99% of incoming Western Illinois University freshmen had ACT Composite from 18 - 22. 62% of Southern Illinois University Carbondale students had an ACT Composite from 19 - 24. ACT Composite: 100% of the Illinois State University incoming freshmen had ACT COmposite scores from 22 - 26. You should retake the ACT if you want to get into the music program from ISU. You should shoot your GPA up to at least 3.0 cumulative. I don't think class ranks for these colleges matter. Do students activities.

I'm sorry, but I know anything about any of their music programs.

I'm a biology major in Texas getting ready to transfer to university and am considering moving to Illinois. I am hoping to go to medical school, and was wondering which colleges would offer the best opportunities for being admitted.

I would prefer to look at schools that are not a horrible commute from the New Lennox area. However, I would consider a school in downtown Chicago as well.

Your first mistake is to take Biology.

Biology Majors have the lowest MCAT scores on average.

Biology Majors, if they don't win a place in Medical School, have a near-worthless degree, good only for careers cleaning lab rat cages.

It's largely a myth that some colleges are better than others for "pre-med". What happens is that the better students tend to go to certain colleges, and have higher Med School admission rates. It's the students that makes the difference, not anything in "pre-med" that colleges do.

Northwestern ranks so much more highly than the other named universities that it would be the best choice if you can be admitted, pay the tuition fee, and keep up with the competition.

Virtually every four-year college and university in the US offers sufficient pre-med preparation whether or not it has a formal program.

The medical schools list the undergraduate classes required for admission on their websites. Try to earn A grades in them and in the rest of your curriculum.

I want to go to college to be a teacher for junior high teaching. I want to be closer to family though also so are there any good colleges in Illinois for teaching?

I'm going to participate in the Running Start program next year. Running Start is a program that gives high school students the opportunity to take their last two years of high school at a local college for dual credits. My parents want me to go to a college in Illinois. I was wondering if anyone knew any colleges in Illinois that accept Running Start credits.

University of Chicago is a private school.
Other good schools are Northern Illinois U and Illinois State.
You want to stay away from Chicago State and Governor's State.

The University of Chicago, Northwestern, and UI Urbana-Champagne are great schools for the sciences.

I really want to major in french and i cannot find any good colleges in illinois that are well known for this major.
