Massachusetts Colleges and Universities

I want to major in either English or history and become an English or history teacher. I really would like to go the college in Massachusetts, and to one that is as inexpensive as possible. So that basically leaves out private colleges. Any suggestions?

Historically, Bridgewater State College has provided teaching degrees at a reasonable price. You would be OK I think at any of the UMass campuses.

I have gotten all the academic information from websites But i need a students opinion! I want to major in business and go to either Fitchburg U, Westfield U, Framingham U, Umass lowel, and Umass dartmouth? Which one has more parties??? If you could gimme info about the students their and lifestyle that would be great!

I'm planning on being an elementary school teacher "when I grow up" hahah but that's not too far away anymore. I would love to go to college somewhere in Boston Mass. Do you have any ideas of four year colleges that would fit this major?

Almost all schools offer education. What really matters are your credentials. If you're in the upper ranges in regards to GPA (3.8-4.0) and ACT/SAT scores (34-36)(2200-2600), you should consider Boston College. If you're in the range of a 3.5 GPA and higher, and 27+ ACT Score/1820+ SAT Score, you can consider Boston University and Northeastern. There's also UMass Boston - that's public, the other three are private. Of course, there are also the small private colleges as well. For instance Emerson (more focus on the Arts).

not all of them obviously, just the major ones, cuz there are quite a few colleges in MA.

Olin College is free, and specializes in engineering.

After that, there are the UMass campuses. UMass at Amherst is the "flagship" campus and is reasonably good in pretty much every subject. UMass-Lowell is the next most respected campus, and is competitive in quality with Amherst in engineering and music - maybe even better in some areas. The other two are at Dartmouth and Boston and are not perceived nearly as well.

Among the private schools other than Olin College, Northeastern is the cheapest major one. It offers all subjects, but it's most respected in engineering and business and its cooperative education model makes it pretty good for people who want a clear path to a career.

Then there are the major national private schools and elite liberal arts colleges. They all cost about the same amount.

The big name small colleges are Amherst and Williams are the most prestigious, while Smith and Wellesley are two of the best women's colleges. There are also a few other good ones - Clark, Hampshire (although it's a bit of a hippie school, which may be good or bad depending on what you're into), Mt Holyoke (another women's college). They're all pretty good in basic academic subjects, but most don't offer career-oriented majors like engineering and business. They have 3-2 programs set up with other schools for engineering.

Among the major universities, MIT is the only one that's really specialized, in science, engineering, economics and architecture. The other big name places are Harvard, Boston University, Boston College and Tufts.

There also a few real specialty schools that are quite good - for example Emerson for performing arts.

I keep hearing that Boston is the best college town and I keep hearing about the large number of prestigious colleges in the Boston metropolitan area. Does anyone have a list of the top colleges here? I really want to go to college in Massachusetts.

i want to be a radiologist and im looking for private colleges anywhere in massachusetts or connecticut that have good programs for radiology. im having a hard time finding any. if you can, include websites to the pages on the college's sites. thanks!

You need to go to a top college with a well regarded premed program like Tufts, Holy Cross, or BC.

I live in Massachusetts and was wondering if anyone knows any good Game Design colleges that's in Massachusetts. Seems my mom prefers one within our state. So far I found The Career Institute of American International College, and is Westwood College in Massachusetts? I looked online and it says it's in Virginia but I heard somewhere that it's in Massachusetts, plus my mom wanted me to go there since she thinks its closer.

i want to go to school for marketing, or business. i didnt have the best of grades freshman/sophmore year in high school but i really stepped it up junior year.. i really want to go to umass amherst. is it hard to get into or are there other schools that i should consider?
also isn't umass amherst a really big party school?

I would look at Western New England. I am applying there and they have a really good business program.
